9th GBCSA Convention – Johannesburg – 26-29 July 2016

Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA) has announced that its ninth Green Building Convention will also be its first to take place in Johannesburg.

South Africa’s flagship green building and sustainability event is set for 26-29 July 2016 at Sandton Convention Centre, in the heart of the country’s highest concentration of green building developments.

Commenting on the convention’s new Sandton Central setting, Brian Wilkinson, CEO of GBCSA, says: “We’re expecting bumper delegate numbers. Global research shows South Africa has the largest percentage of green building projects underway in the world, and most of these are in Gauteng. Naturally, industry demand has driven our decision to bring the Green Building Convention to Joburg.”

The influential assembly plays a key role in shaping and developing South Africa’s green building movement. The Green Building Convention is the highlight of the green building calendar and attracts delegates from around the country and further afield.

Build a better world NOW’ is the theme of the convention in 2016, which is set to stimulate awareness, ambition and action to design, build and operate better buildings.

Wilkinson says: “This year, the event brings together industry leaders with the experience and ideas to generate solutions – some outrageous and some exquisite in their simplicity but all revolutionary in their power to affect positive change and Build a Better World NOW.”

GBCSA has also announced a compelling trio of keynote addresses. Headlining the event are Dr Ian McCallum, the author of “Ecological Intelligence” and a world authority on the interface between humans and the natural world; John Elkington, the “Advisor from the Future”, who is an international expert on the impact of business on profits, people and the planet; and Paul Clements-Hunt who is a development finance strategist and a global advocate of clean capitalism, value-based infrastructure and sustainability.

Broadcaster and property professional Kura Chihota will again be the Master of Ceremonies at the Green Building Convention 2016, which will be rich in content across a broad spectrum of sustainability topics. It offers the best learning in green building, top industry speakers, exciting workshops and tours, and the opportunity reflect, connect and celebrate.
