Master Builders South Africa has for many decades been proudly at the forefront of promoting occupational health and safety in South Africa’s construction industry. Working in close collaboration with the Federated Employers Mutual Assurance Company (FEM) – a household name in the construction industry delivering world class services to its policy holders – Master Builders SA is proud to maintain a close relationship with the licensed workmen’s compensation assurer.
The well-being of member companies’ workforces, together with safe working conditions on construction sites, is a fundamental objective of Master Builders SA. It strives to achieve this by coordinating various interventions at its national office which is executed by the Master Builders Associations who play a vital role in delivering advice and services to employers on building sites throughout the country.

In her address to Award winners and guests at the Congress 2018 FEM Safety Awards Dinner, Ndivhuwo Manyonga, Managing
Director of Federated Employers Mutual Assurance Company said “At FEM we continue to hold dear our focus on construction health and safety as we strive for Zero Harm in the workplace and on construction sites – to ensure that all employees return home safely every day.
“I have recently spent time with widows and dependants and it is heart rending to to see kids who are too young to understand the loss of a parent. Looking beyond the statistics at such immeasurable loss is frightening.”
Manyonga congratulated all participants and winners in the National Safety Competition for their outstanding achievements and their significant contribution to Zero Harm in the construction industry.
Auditing and judging of the winners of the MBA Regional Safety Competitions around the country is indeed an enormous task and is conducted by recognised professionals in the field of Construction Health and Safety.
The National Safety Committee Chairperson for the period under review was Greg Steele, Executive Director of Master Builders Association – East Cape, who congratulated all participants in the competition for their outstanding achievements.
He also gave special thanks to the judges and audit team who spent many nights away from home auditing 36 sites in each of the Master Builders Association regions, and to the KZN MBA and MBA North who seconded some of their staff to this vital function.
